If you have out of date or unwanted medicines, both prescription or over the counter drugs, don’t bin them or flush them. You can take your unwanted or out of date medicines back to your pharmacy for safe disposal, and it’s completely FREE. Each year enormous quantities of unused and expired medications are dumped into bins or flushed down toilets and sinks. The effects on the environment and human health are unclear but evidence is pointing to the presence of chemicals from prescriptions and over-the-counter medications in soil, drinking water and the surrounding environment. Just as proper medication administration is important, so is safe and cautious disposal.

We are able to obtain your prescriptions electronically without the need for a paper copy. Simply ask your GP Surgery to nominate our pharmacy in order for your prescriptions to be transferred to us automatically.

Free Emergency Hormonal Contraception for all females over 13 years of age after a consultation with the pharmacist.

Free condoms are available to young people between the ages of 16 to 24 to reduce the spread of Sexually Transmitted Diseases amongst this group.

As part of our Sexual Health Services we offer free contraception in form of either tablets or injection to all women who meet the criteria after having a consultation with the pharmacist.

We offer free Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) kits to everyone requesting after a consultation with the pharmacist. This allows the patient to perform the test at home and send the kit back to the laboratory for the results.

All medicines are dispensed in child resistant containers unless you request us not to. Please remember, keep all medicines out of reach and sight of children. Our pharmacist can advise you on safe storage of medicines.

We keep a wide range of over the counter medicines and vitamins and mineral supplements.

This is an opportunity for our pharmacist to discuss and review the medicines you are taking to ensure you are using them correctly and getting the maximum benefit. We will explain clearly and simply, without any medical jargon, what they are for and the conditions they treat and identify any possible side effects that you may be experiencing. We will listen to you and any problems you are having with your medicines, provide advice and support and if necessary contact your Doctor to discuss any issues that arise from our conversation.

An MUR can help:

• improve your understanding of the medicines you are taking;
• highlight problematic side effects and propose solutions where appropriate;
• improve adherence
• reduce medicines wastage, usually by helping you only order the medicines you need

Our pharmacist may be able to conduct an MUR over the telephone or for eligible patient

Free flu vaccination for NHS patients that meet the criteria. Over 65 years, asthmatics, diabetics and renal patients. Any other patients requesting a vaccination can be done as a paid service.

When you are prescribed a new medicine by your doctor our pharmacists can offer support and advice to ensure you take the new medication as prescribed without suffering any unwanted side effects or explain any further questions you may have. We usually do this by keeping in contact with you during the first 4 weeks of your new medicine being prescribed.

The service is only available for people living in England, and only for those who have been prescribed a new medicine for the conditions listed:

• asthma
• chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
• type 2 diabetes 
• high blood pressure
• people who have been given a new blood-thinning medicine

The NMS can help:

• improve your adherence (taking your medicines correctly) which will generally lead to better health outcomes
• increase your engagement with your condition and medicines, supporting you to make decisions about your treatment and self-management
• reduce medicines wastage
• reduce hospital admissions due to adverse events from medicines

Free treatments for minor ailments for NHS patients exempt from prescription charges.

We also provide a number of medicines under the Pharmacy Group Direction scheme where the patient can buy prescription only medicine without going to the GP and having a consultation with the pharmacist. Examples are Salbutamol inhalers, Malaria prophylaxis, period delay tablets, Erectile dysfunction tablets, Oral contraceptive pills and weight loss tablets

You can carry out most pregnancy tests from the first day of a missed period. If you don't know when your next period is due, do the test at least 21 days after you last had unprotected sex.

Some very sensitive pregnancy tests can be used even before you miss a period, from as early as 8 days after conception.

You can do a pregnancy test in our pharmacy on a sample of urine collected at any time of the day. It doesn't have to be in the morning.

We dispense NHS prescriptions and will give advice on how to get the most benefit from your medicines. We keep a comprehensive stock of medicines and use a fast and an efficient wholesaler service to enable us to fill all prescriptions promptly. For patients in England who do not have a valid exemption or pre-payment certificate, the NHS prescription charge is currently £9.65 per item.

We can dispense NHS repeat dispensing prescriptions issued by your doctor. We handle repeat prescriptions, we send reminders and you can order online using our website or app. The NHS prescription charge per item for patients in England is £9.65.

We provide a face-to-face stop smoke service giving regular support for 12 weeks and advice to help you quit. This also includes the provision of Nicotine Replacement Therapy or Varenicline ( Champix ) dependant on suitability for up to 12 weeks. We also offer a cut-down programme over 6 weeks for those contemplating giving up smoking but not sure yet if they want to quit.
